Rock Steady 4/Good vs Evil Climbing Competition
Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the Lakewood Link Recreation Center, in Lakewood, Colorado, come on out for the the Rock Steady 4/Good vs Evil Climbing Competition. The Spot Gym's Night of the Rising Sun - Season IV

Warriors Way Mental/Movement Camp
By Arno Ilgner - Combine the Warrior's Way mental fitness material with movement skills on December 5-7, 2008, at Foster Fallls in East Tennessee. Training must be integrated to benefit fully from it. We've blended the skills of movement and mental fitness to create a more powerful and efficient approach to climbing.

Heidi Wirtz: An Inspiring Soles Semifinalist
The North Face athlete and Boulder resident Heidi Wirtz, co-founder of the nonprofit Girls Education International (Girls Ed), was notified in October that she was one of five semifinalists for the Inspiring Soles Award. Votes are now being collected to choose the finalist at the Inspiring Soles website: VOTE HERE.
 
Westminster College's First-Ever Intercollegiate Climbing Competition
On November 18, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah, college students — with focus and determination — from across the state competed for the title of “best boulderer” at Westminster College’s first-ever climbing wall competition. Tye Watkins and Lizzie Nielson, both students at the University of Utah, took first place honors in the men’s and women’s divisions beating out more than 30 other students.

The North Face and Black Diamond present the First Annual 2008 Yangshuo, China Climbing Festival
More than 350 climbers from 15 countries and more than half the provinces in China came together the First Annual The North Face/Black Diamond Yangshuo Climbing Festival was held from October 31 through November 2 in and around the town of Yangshuo in Southeast China’s Guangxi Province.
 
Bolivia Rock Star Festival
On November 1st, 2008 at the Amor de Dios Neighborhood in the Aramjuez area of La Paz, the First Rock Star Festival took place. The Vertigo Climbing Club, who organized this event, created a competition based on a triathlon theme where competitors would do a 4 kilometer run, a 60 meter zip line and climb ten routes. IX Festival de Boulder 2008
The IX Festival de Boulder, November 8-9, 2008, is a two day bouldering event held on natural rock (not indoor), in it's the 9th edition (2000-2008). This is the most important climbing event in Argentina held at the coastal boulders near Mar del Plata, several hours south of Buenos Aires.

The International Climbers' Meet Recap

Europe was well represented but it was gratifying to see climbers from Russia, China, Japan, Turkey, South Africa, Brazil and Australia there as well. 2008 Climb Smart
Friends of Joshua Tree will host the 11th annual Climb Smart gathering at Indian Cove group campgrounds from October 24 through October 26, 2008. This is the largest gathering of Southern California’s climbing community, featuring intensive clinics, gear raffles, food and top notch entertainment over the weekend.
